“According to a March survey by Bizrate Insights, 32% of online buyers in North America have made a purchase as a result of seeing an image on a social image-sharing site, such as Pinterest.” —

This is a pretty impressive number.  And the article (Is Pinterest Really Leading to Product Purchases?) has plenty more very important stats and quotes such as:

According to February data from BlogHer, 81% of active female Pinterest users trusted the site for information and advice—even more so than Twitter and Facebook.

And:

The same BlogHer study indicated that 47% of female social network users in the US said a recommendation on Pinterest had influenced a purchase decision.

Klever Facebook strategies -

This first looked to be a pretty interesting case study showcasing smart integrated tactics to promote an event via Facebook (a music and art festival).  What struck us as strange was that here were no hard numbers in terms of the ROI or success metrics for the festival, just some detailed descriptions of the tactics.  So we looked up the Facebook Page…which has a whopping 170 Likes (see it here).  We would never claim that the number of Likes is the only success metric that marketers should look at but in this case, that number is a good indication of whether the campaign worked, especially given the focus of the integrated tactics. Which then makes us reconsider the “kleverness” of the strategies described in the case study.

“In fact, the category of “a person like me” has emerged as one of the three most trustworthy sources of information about a company. According to the Edelman survey, peer groups experienced the biggest jump in trust since 2004. Following close behind peers are “employees,” which saw a similarly dramatic increase over last year’s result.” — More important stats from an Edelman survey about the power of peer groups and WOM: How to build consumer trust through social media.

“Chen calculated Facebook’s historical ratio of daily active users (DAU) to monthly active users (MAU) and the stats are startling. Since March 2009, when the earliest data is available, approximately 50% of Facebook users logged in daily. As other technology companies struggle to maintain DAU to MAU ratios of 5% or less, Facebook’s numbers appear stratospherically high in comparison.” — This is the most data-driven quote in this fascinating article about social network growth and engagement and the relationship between the two as they drive success: Never Take Your Eyes Off This Hacker Metric.  There are many more fantastic quotes and thoughts throughout.
